I was browing dA today (as I usually do) and I keep coming across these akward image edits. I kind of look at them all "O____o;" and think: why exactly would someone do that?

SMOTHERING IMAGES WITH BRUSHES DOES NOT MAKE THEM LOOK PRETTY.
Especially when all you do it change the opacity of the brush layer.

I know I used to drown images out with brushes- I didn't know any better. I used to think it looked lovely. It doesn't. I soon realized that and stopped. Still, though, I use brushes. Just not as much as before. My work has improved since I quit using them so often. And, you know, if you're going to use brushes, at least make your own. It's alright to use someone else's once in a while, but still. At least use your own so that you can credit yourself for something other than randomly placing the brush patterns all over a picture. You can say, "Hey, look. I made these brushes and didn't want them to go to waste." instead of, "Brushes are (c)somerandomsitenamehere.com."
